Elementary Studio
Our Explore Studio (for children in Grades 2-3) and our Voyage Studio (for children in Grades 4-5) comprise our elementary education program. Both studios adhere to a self-paced, Socratic-inspired learning model, which offers learners a strong foundation in math, reading, writing, science, and civilization through online and offline independent and collaborative work. Consistent with the Spark Studio, our Elementary Studios incorporate outdoor play time, Morning Launches, and Life Tools discussions into each school day to ensure our learners have opportunities for academic, physical, social, and emotional growth and development.

Our Elementary Studio spends approximately two hours per day outside (weather permitting). This allows learners to create organic friendships through imaginative play while reaping the numerous benefits of time outdoors.

We have a self-paced curriculum here at GPA, which means that we encourage learners to work on course material at a pace that feels right to them. For some learners, this may mean that math progress outpaces reading progress. For other learners, this may mean a slowed or accelerated progression through all course material.
While we believe that there is no “right” place for a learner to be at with his/her learning at a given time, we do look for indicators of steady progression through coursework. Tracking program progress over time is the most helpful way to know if a learner is making steady progress in their learning.

Our elementary learners experience collaboration via science, civilization, Writer’s Workshop, Life Tools, Life Skills, lunch/outdoor reset, Town Hall, and Morning Launches, ensuring that learners receive an abundance of time working with their peers.
